Last WODS at Reebok CrossFit MeWellness 28/6/14

As soon as the wods were over I got a bit sad because it was done…, weird feeling. In the last couple of months I got so used to the box, the people, the workouts. It was a community, a challenge and so many new experiences. How could I aver thought of making it to the Asian regionals. And now it was time to say goodbye. The only good thing was the good bye dinner in the evening which one of my crossfitters organized for me, so at least I did not have to say food bye right after the wod. Instead we got drunk at night which it made easier to say “zài jiàn”.

WOD 27/614

It was almost time to say good bye. I went to the box to work on my one rep max power clean, could not get over 125 lbs and it felt heavy today… Did some strict ring dips and little stuff and afterwards the regular WOD… Only 2 days left and one more workout day.

Afterwards I met with a good CrossFit friend for Dinner and beer…, oh oh cheatin has already started…

Sunday at Icarus – WOD Trial 22/6/14

On Sunday I went there for a trial wod and I really liked it. The box is right to the service apartment I lived when I arrived in Shanghai last August and it is also only a 20 min bike ride to the German school. Mmh, they asked me to work as coach there… which would be a great opportunity but I am leaving…

WOD amrap 3 min for 5 rounds, 2 min rest in between
5 burpees
5 box jumps
5 wall balls (15lbs)

cash out
partner med ball sit ups (50 with, 50 without 15 lbs ball)
I always finished four rounds and 1-3 burpees. Afterwards we went for Margaritas, bad choice 😉

Shanghai Shake Up 21/6/14

Because of the one year anniversary of Reebok CrossFit MeWellness there was a competition at the box. I was a bit unmotivated because after all the regionals work and trainings I just wanted to relax and not being competitive… I also was worried to screw up… Between 35 and 40 people competed. Vanessa and me were the only girls who did the RX version of the workouts. MeWellness made a nice video to advertise so called “Shake Up”:

Beside the workouts there was also other stuff going on:

stalls: Rocktape, Vcleanse, BBQ, Yoga trial, Djane, raffle…

The wods were nice

103 reps (of course, Ben was better, haha)

At the end of the day the winners were announced, haha: Ben and me won the first prize and got some nice goodies, as u can see on the pic (a big package of fresh vegetables from Kate and Kimi, a huge protein powder, haha: another one….- awesome, gift cards and vouchers). It was a great day and a good almost saying goodbye thing… 🙂

Review and best of Asian Regionals 2014

What an experience! I am so thankful for all the support and of course for just being there. The people from our box who came to Seoul, cheered us, were amazing. I feel blessed! Also all the athletes I met, so many great strong people. I remember talking to Marlene Anderson, the girl who won the regionals. I did not know who she was but we both were kinda scared of the legless rope climbs event and talked about it. Haha, later I realized who I was talking to.

It was a real emotional weekend. I pushed my boundaries, did some movements I surprised myself what I am able to do. Of course I am also disappointed with the things I messed up: the Hang Snatch and the Chipper still upsets me. … But for somebody who just started CrossFit in summer 2012, has no sports background, did the Open Wods the first time this year and is not the youngest athlete 😉

I was the last one who took a spot in the regionals as number 52 in the open and did not finish in last place at the regionals. I finished 26th, only one point away (one stupid ring dip!!!!!!) from 25th, two points from 24th place. For a first time regional girl I think this is a good result, haha, I still try to convince myself…

It was also a one time thing, I ll be back in Europe soon. I am sure I get stronger, will work on my weaknesses and gymnastic skills, more focus on my weightlifting technique but the level in Europe is different, so there is no way to go to the regionals again. Next year I will sit in the audience and cheer all the amazing athletes at the EUROPEAN REGIONALS and think back what I did a year ago, kicking my own ass in Seoul, what a memory…
